Grow for Vets California is a chapter of the national non-profit organization Grow For Vets. They have a simple, yet powerful mission—to donate medical cannabis to military veterans who need it, as well as to educate them on how to grow it for personal use as an alternative to deadly prescription drugs. The organization was founded in Colorado by U.S. Army Veteran Roger Martin in 2014 after crediting cannabis with saving his life from Oxycontin and Ambien addiction. Since then, Grow for Vets has expanded to five additional states and donated hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of medical cannabis and equipment to vets to help promote a safer alternative to the usual cocktail of prescriptions. Instead of regurgitating stats and information that can all be found on their website, I am going to skip to the important part—what you can do right now.
Whether you have money, cannabis, or equipment Grow for Vets will take any form of donation and use it to give our veterans another option outside of traditional pharmaceuticals. All it takes is five minutes of your time. Enter in your name, pertinent personal information, and the type of donation (money, cannabis, equipment, volunteer time) and they will do the rest. So as you leave this article excited to go find a new strain on Weedmaps or Leafly, think about clicking the link below first, and sharing that excitement with a veteran who could probably use it as much, if not more, than you.
