Smoking vs Vaping

We are familiar with smoking marijuana and becoming more aware of food products containing marijuana (edibles). But, how much do you know about vaporizing marijuana? Let’s dive into the pros and cons of smoking vs. vaporizing medical marijuana.

Vaporizing is a common technique for consuming marijuana, at the same time negating many irritating respiratory toxins that exist within the marijuana flower, and are released when smoked. Conversely, vaporizing allows one to get at all of the psychoactive ingredients available within a specific strain of marijuana, minus the combustion that ordinarily takes place during consumption.

Smoking vs Vaping

Smoking Cannabis

  • Smoking is what we know. It is a part of our culture and has had influences on art, music, and pop culture.
  • Respiratory hazards of smoke are due to toxic by-products of combustion, not the active ingredients in the plant.
  • Combusted smoke gases consist of up to 88% non-cannabinoids.
  • A joint can burn up to 2,012 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Holding in smoke allows more tar and chemicals to be absorbed in the lungs.

Vaporizing Cannabis

  • Vaporizing is fairly new and is starting to gain traction.
  • Vaporizing marijuana emits a vapor that is 95% smoke and carcinogen free.
  • Most vaporizers can be extremely effective at around 338 degrees.
  • Vaporizing can be very effective for those who have asthma and would like medication to open up their respiratory.
  • Most vaporizers have different heating settings. Cannabinoids vaporize at different temperatures.
